Freedom is not what people think
We associate freedom with zero limitations, that once we are released from jail and even let go from probation that the grass is sunshine. This simply is not the case. We, the felon, are persecuted and given a lifetime of punishment even once we are set free.
I was locked up long enough, and was arrested so many times that at one point jail became a natural rite of passage. I had no clue what a felon was, I knew that it was a derogatory term, but I never knew all of the basic rights one loses. It was truly a shocker.
