Another inmate was found unresponsive two days ago at the Metropolitan Detention Center. He committed suicide while he and the whole Pod were left unsupervised in the Segregation Unit (SEG). The corrections officer, that we will not name at this point, will face charges. How the do you let someone die there with a billion cameras, when your sole purpose in life is to watch a pod that is already on lockdown? That is worse than getting fired on your day off. Let’s think about it for a second. Yes, their numbers are low. Obviously no one is aspiring to become a corrections officer. But does it matter? It does matter, because all that matters is now, and right now the Corrections Officers numbers are very low.
The whole jail is on lockdown. MDC is always on lockdown. Do they care about the mental stability of the incarcerated? Nah. Each CO has one or two pods for them to watch over; likely their pods are going to be in the same unit. So, for example, D Unit has, D1 D2, D3, D4, D5, D6, D7 and D8, and you guessed it, they are all next to each other. So, if you are in charge of D1 and D8, and you have to rotate every hour, and the pods are in the same general area, how do you let someone die? What was told to the Underground news was that the inmate that committed suicide and his whole pod were left for four hours and the next person to go in was on shift change, so, it was a new guard. So, this reckless CO, left a whole pod alone for four hours. WOW. Wonder where he was off to? So many suggestions and opinions have been offered up on how to fix these problems at such an important place in the city.
My suggestion is to let the Girl Scouts of America take a crack at running MDC, and they can fundraise at the same time

This will continue to occur until the Correction Officers at the Metropolitan Detention Center gain some compassion, empathy, and awareness about their reality, what could that be? That they are overpaid daycare workers, (we salute real daycare workers!) that are there for a single purpose, to protect the inmate from other inmates, themselves, and to get them to court and on time. How hard is this? I realize their roster is low, but, it’s not like they are going anywhere; your job is right in front of you.
Facts:
With an entity that only has to report incidents whenever they feel like it, MDC is gaining quite a reputation for stupidity first, violence second, and peace last. Do they not background these people and whoever is doing their mental evaluations needs to be fired. The corrections officers at MDC are loose canons that make horrible decisions. Just think where that one CO went for fours hours. On the flip side there are maybe a handful Correction Officers that are amazing humans, they live by a code, a creed, that states, “treat inmates the way they want to be treated.”

I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.
Take this advice MDC
MDC needs to stop playing Fantasy Island (you all have families, kids and baby mommas at home) and focus on what matters, and that’s your jobs, not dating other peoples girlfriends or boyfriends or each other (weak sticks), treating the inmates like trash, playing God, and or anything that doesn’t pertain to their job duties and descriptions. If these CO’s would just have empathy, then MDC could help prepare these men and women for the struggles that lie ahead with more clarity.

To all the Corrections Officers out there, this below are your duties and responsibilities to this jail and to your community. Do I have to repeat this again, mind your own business, stop the drama at work, and do your fucking jobs.
